RECOVERY MINISTRY AT AXIS
Serenity is based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (the cornerstone of all 12 step recovery groups). We are not affiliated with A.A., but we do follow many of their traditions. We recognize Jesus Christ as our "Higher Power", as did the founders of A.A.. However, you do not need to believe in Jesus to attend Serenity. We welcome people of all faiths, creeds, and backgrounds.
We especially encourage those who are already attending 12 step recovery groups to attend if they are interested in a deeper relationship between their recovery and a belief in Jesus Christ. Our hope is that our meeting would strengthen your recovery; statistics show the best chance of recovery occurs for those who worked the steps hand-in-hand with church involvement. Serenity embraces the tradition of anonymity: We want to be a safe place for people to lay down their issues (the problem) and recover with others (the solution.)
Serenity utilizes the 12 Steps from A.A., short devotions prepared by members who are in recovery, and lessons from the Serenity Bible, a recovery Bible that contains the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs, as well as short lessons on the 12 Steps.
